Indianapolis, Indiana (July 3, 2018) – Juncos Racing rookie Victor Franzoni is set for the second oval of the season at Iowa Speedway this weekend in the Indy Lights Championship Presented by Cooper Tires. Franzoni currently sits fourth in the Indy Lights Championship after nine rounds.

Brazilian native Franzoni is still feeling the strong momentum gained after an emotional win less than two weeks ago at Road America. Franzoni picked up his first win and first pole since joining the Indy Lights Championship during Rounds 8 and 9 on the 4.014 mile, 14-Turn road course. One week prior to Road America former Juncos Racing driver and Franzoni’s teammate in the Pro Mazda Championship, Jeff Green, passed away after an accident during a vintage race at Canadian Tire Motorsports Park.

Franzoni has earned four podiums, one pole, and one win so far during the 2018 season. The rookie is currently 52 points behind the championship leader in the Indy Lights standings.

“I am really looking forward to the race in Iowa,” said Franzoni. “We are coming off of an awesome weekend at Road America. Each session we improved a lot. After the win, I think we can carry this momentum forward for the final half of the season. We were super fast in the Freedom 100, so I am sure we will be fast at Iowa. The team has done a great job finding set ups on the ovals and I enjoy running on them as well so it will be a good weekend. Iowa is a difficult track, but it is also a fun track.”

Team Principle Ricardo Juncos said, “We are looking forward to Iowa after a great weekend at Road America two weeks ago. Victor (Franzoni) continues to improve in each session, and that was proven with his first win and pole of the year. He has been working so hard to achieve this win, so it was much deserved. I am confident we will be strong at Iowa after how well we ran during the Freedom 100, despite not finishing the race. The crew has done an amazing job giving Victor a fast, reliable car each weekend, so I am ready to get back on track in just a few days!”

The 2018 Indy Lights Championship continues July 7th – 8th with Round 10 at Iowa Speedway.
