Toronto, ON, Canada (July 14, 2018) – Juncos Racing rookie Rene Binder earned his best qualifying position since joining the Verizon IndyCar Series today on the streets of Toronto. Binder will start 19th tomorrow for the Honda Indy Toronto.

After a month away from the Verizon IndyCar Series Austrian native Rene Binder returned to the series on the Streets of Toronto this weekend. Binder completed three successful practice sessions before qualifying Saturday afternoon.

A light rain coated the track as qualifying for the first session was set to go. Binder was running seventh until a red flag stopped the session. Only one timed lap was allowed once the session returned to green flag conditions. Binder would settle for the 19th starting position for the 85 lap race on Sunday.

Binder driving the No. 32 Binderholz / Chevrolet / Juncos Racing car said, “It was a really short and trick qualifying session due to the red flag. We did a great job in the first outing running P7 until the red flag. We only had time for one lap for the second outing and I was not going to risk too much. We will start P19 tomorrow and we look forward to a solid race.”

The green flag will wave Sunday July 15th at 3:42PM EST for the Verizon IndyCar Series.
