Madison, Illionis (August 26, 2018) – Victor Franzoni completed the final oval of the 2018 Indy Lights Championship Presented by Cooper Tires this weekend at Gateway Motorsports Park.

Weather played a big role in the two-day event at the 1.25-mile oval located at Gateway Motorsports Park. Rainy conditions postponed track activity for all series running on Friday, and shorting the day to one 30 minute practice session for the Indy Lights Championship.

A short 15 minute practice session was scheduled Saturday morning and qualifying directly followed for the Indy Lights field. Franzoni driving the No. 23 Soul Red Mazda / Juncos Racing car qualified sixth.

The final oval race followed later that afternoon. The weather took a turn from the previous day with very sunny, humid, and hot conditions. Franzoni would complete the entire 75-lap race, finishing just outside the Top-5 in sixth.

“So the weekend wasn’t bad overall for us,” said Franzoni. “It was a learning experience for me. We had a good pace during the race, as the field was super close in times. I tried to move up through the pack but just wasn’t able to make it happen. I am looking forward to next weekend at Portland. It’s a new track for all of us, so it will be fun.”
