The sixth weekend fo the 2019 IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship kicked off on the 3.4 mile, 11-Turn road course located at Watkins Glen International.

Rene Binder made his first qualifying attempt in the No. 50 Cadillac DPi-V.R Juncos Racing entry, qualifying 10th among the DPi class and 12th overall.

The Sahlen’s Six Hours of the Glen concluded the weekend under cool, windy, and partly cloudy conditions. The six hour endurance race would go under caution before the first lap was complete dur to a multiple car incident.

Mid-way through the first hour Juncos Racing served a 60 second penalty due to exiting the pits when they were closed. The team would continue to battle through diversity throughout the race, however completed all pit stops flawlessly. Will Owen (Castle Rock, Colorado) and Rene Binder (Innsbruck, Austria) brought home the No. 50 entry in eighth place.

“This weekend we learned a lot, made progress, and were dealt with some unfortunate situations during the Sahlen’s Six Hours of the Glen,” said Owen. “The car’s balance was the best it has been this year. Our Cadillac DPi-V.R had great pace, we were running times close to the other Cadillacs throughout the race. It’s unfortunate we could not get a better finish after being dealt with some situations I have never faced in my racing career. We will regroup this week and be ready for next weekend in Canada.”

“Overall I am very pleased with the pace and progress we have made since the beginning of the season,” said Binder. “The Cadillac DPi-V.R car is a lot of fun to drive on a circuit like Watkins Glen. We had some great runs in practice, but were not able to translate that into qualifying. During the race we had to battle through some issues that kept us from finishing higher among the field. I am looking forward to being back with the team later this year for the last event at Road America.”
